About Us
So, here we are - two soon-to-be retirees with one big dream: to swap deadlines for campfire smoke, city noise for crickets and rush-hour traffic for negotiating parking a caravan (which is bound to test our marriage's suspension).
We’re on a mission to retire in a caravan and spend long, lazy stretches of time exploring South Africa’s best (and sometimes strangest) caravan parks and camping spots. From the beaches to the bushveld, if it’s got a plug point and a decent ablution block, we’re there!
But here’s the thing — we don’t just want to keep this adventure to ourselves. That’s why we started The Slow Lane Life — a place for everyone who loves caravanning, camping, or just dreaming about packing up and telling the boss, “I’m working remotely from the forest/beach/mountains/bush (pick one)… indefinitely.”
On our website, you’ll get:
👉 Our latest blog posts – filled with tips, tales, and a few honest mistakes (because levelling a caravan is harder than it looks).
👉 Useful product reviews – from must-have gadgets to “what were they thinking?” camping gear.
👉 Cool merchandise – fun, cheeky designs for proud slow-laners, perfect for showing off around the braai.
👉 Downloadable Checklists - to make caravanning a little easier for those of us that have not reached 'Expert Level' yet
👉 Readers (that's you) Contributions - we'll publish your photos, campsite reviews & any usefull advice you might be willing to part with
👉 Caravan park and campsite reviews (coming soon) – honest, detailed, and written after actually staying there. If the showers are cold or the baboons steal the rusks, we’ll tell you.
Our goal? To create a relaxed, friendly community of caravaners, campers, and daydreamers who appreciate the art of slowing down, soaking it in, and sometimes swatting the flies.
So, whether you’re already living your best campsite life or still planning your escape, join our Subscription list, grab a cuppa, and join us in The Slow Lane Life.
After all, in the slow lane, every pothole’s an adventure and every sunrise comes with a story. 🌅
